Jonah Cullen is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who blends progressive rock and metal with pop sensibilities and a range of dynamics that capture a bredth of life experiences: the mistakes, the beauty, the loss, the hope, and the doubt.
The 2024 release, "Within," represents one dynamic half of the range of his sound, with a mix of emotive orchestral ballads, upbeat brassy pop songs, and dreamy soundscapes. The upcoming sister album, "Without," will form the other bookend of this dynamic spectrum, painting with a progressive metal palette while still emphasizing melody and emotion to create a more intense, cinimatic, and technical listening experience.
Prior to this series of solo records, Cullen was a member of the Boise progressive/alternative rock power trio, LUX, along with Sam Harmon and Alisha Peru. Their album, "Lux Aeterna," captures a younger and more raw sound that harkens back to the nostalgic sounds of the 90s.
